Volume 1 of a unique six-part documentary series of Pearl Harbor survivors telling their story of the December 7th 1941 Pearl Harbor attack. Unlike so many other documentaries produced by the major TV networks, that include narration with distant speculations and lofty views of the “true” historical facts with very short clips of the survivors interviews, I decided to document and preserve the Pearl Harbor survivor’s individual stories as remembered and told by the actual survivors of that historic day. Hello, my name is Val Mijailovic. I am an independent filmmaker and have been on a an urgent mission to document and preserve that which is sacred: the stories of those who have sacrificed so much to make this country what it is today, as well as the events of our history that should never be forgotten. My urgency stems from the fact that as each month passes, the voices of these survivors pass into eternal silence, their stories unheard, and unknown. I have completed two volumes and I am in the process of editing four additional volumes. For the past two years I have traveled across the nation, including twice to Pearl Harbor, at my own expense, dedicating my time and equipment to interview the Pearl Harbor survivors.
