(Judging - Making a tough call)

1) STAR POWER JUDO This video examines the qualities and the frame of mind of the few individuals that we call champions. To do this we have selected a different format one that we think can help the competitors, parents and coaches alike. Rather then a step by step how to video this presentation conceptualizes and names some of those ideas that we previously had about judo never quite expressly identifying, but now here they are in your addition of Star Power Judo. After viewing this tape parents should have a better idea of what they would want to support in their child’s training. Coaches will have to turn their direction to different drills and training methods that they will need build their future champions. This presentations includes numerous video samples of International and Olympic championships. Many of the clips are replayed in slow motion and eloquently explained by Mr. Hayward Nishioka.

2) PYTHON JUDO (Advanced Matwork) Through this presentation we bring to you novel mat techniques not normally found in judo textbooks. Some of these move's are more popular then others, in which case a competition video scene (example) will preclude the actual demonstration of that move. Other techniques are not as well utilized or have not been captured on video tape but that doesn’t preclude them of being potentially effective or eventually successful. In the end it is the judoka him/her self who makes or breaks the technique. It is the judoka him/her self who is prepared that will have the advantage. Are you prepared or unprepared?

3) WHAT'S THE SCORE (HOW and WHY the referees make their calls) It takes many years to become an Olympic judo referee. One starts out at the dojo level and proceeds to the local tournaments. The more stellar referees will advance to National, Union and finally to the International levels. Each level requires vigorous practice, dedication and examination. At the highest level of refereeing you will find the International Referee. There are two divisions, International B and International A. Only International A level is qualified to referee at the World and the Olympic championships. One of the more important skills for a judo referee is that of assessing the value of a throw where there are no instant replays, slow motions and very seldom a perfect angle. This video looks at rules acting as guide lines for assessing a score in a throw. Numerous examples of National, International and Olympic footage are included in this program to help you understand and practice refereeing. This video is also highly recommended for the competitors to better understand WHY and HOW the score decisions are made by the referees.
